KARACHI, Pakistan — Legal Sparrow, the AI-powered legal intelligence platform serving practitioners across South Asia, announced today the closing of a $12 million Series A funding round. The round was led by Atlas Ventures, with participation from Sequoia Seed, Draper Associates, and three specialist legal-technology investment funds.
The capital will be deployed across three strategic fronts: expanding the platform's proprietary Case Law Engine to cover deeper jurisprudential archives, scaling infrastructure to support enterprise law firm clients, and growing the core AI research and engineering team from 40 to 120 full-time employees over the next 18 months.
A Vote of Confidence in AI-Native Legal Infrastructure
The investment underscores growing investor appetite for legal technology platforms that are purpose-built for AI from the ground up, rather than retrofitted with machine learning features. Legal Sparrow's architecture — built on a foundation of vector embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation, and sovereign compute — differentiates it from legacy legal research providers.
“Legal research is the last major knowledge-work domain that hasn't seen structural disruption from AI. Legal Sparrow is changing that, one jurisdiction at a time.”

Expansion Roadmap: UK and Regional Scaling
With a strong presence in Pakistan, Legal Sparrow has established a London office to target the highly competitive but underserved mid-market legal sector in the UK. The expansion focuses on commercial dispute resolution, corporate M&A due diligence, and employment law firms with 5–50 practitioner headcounts.
The platform currently processes over 2.3 million legal queries per month and maintains a proprietary database of 18 million indexed case law documents across Pakistan and United Kingdom jurisdictions. Its AI-powered Case Brief Agent alone has reduced average research time by 68% in controlled firm-wide trials.
Key Metrics at Time of Announcement
Monthly active practitioners: 14,200 — up 312% year-over-year. Enterprise firm accounts: 87 active (30+ practitioners each). Average session duration: 38 minutes, indicating deep workflow integration. Net Promoter Score: 71, placing Legal Sparrow in the top 5% of B2B SaaS platforms globally.
Legal Sparrow's CEO, Aisha Khan, stated that the firm intends to remain founder-controlled and has structured the Series A to ensure that product and mission decisions remain with the founding team through at least a Series C. "We are not building a feature. We are building infrastructure for the next generation of legal practice. That requires a long time horizon," she said.
