Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy defines the rules governing your use of Legal Sparrow. All users must comply with these standards to maintain a secure, ethical, and professional platform for the legal community.

Last Updated: May 1, 2026
Effective Date: May 1, 2026

1. Purpose and Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy applies to all individuals and organisations accessing Legal Sparrow, including attorneys, paralegals, legal staff, and any authorised account users.

These rules supplement our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Capitalized terms not defined here carry the meanings assigned in those documents.

2. Permitted Uses

Legal Sparrow is designed to support professional legal workflows including document drafting, legal research, case summarisation, contract analysis, and related productivity tasks conducted in good faith.

You may use the platform on behalf of your firm or organisation provided you have authority to accept these terms and ensure compliance by all users under your account.

3. Prohibited Activities

You must not use Legal Sparrow to engage in any activity that is unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or in violation of applicable law, professional conduct rules, or bar regulations.

The following activities are strictly prohibited on this platform:

  • Submitting content that infringes intellectual property rights, including copyrights, trademarks, or trade secrets belonging to third parties.
  • Using AI-generated outputs as direct legal advice to clients without independent professional review and oversight by a licensed attorney.
  • Uploading, transmitting, or processing content that is defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, obscene, or threatening toward any individual or group.
  • Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract source code, algorithms, or proprietary data from the platform.
  • Circumventing, disabling, or tampering with authentication, access controls, rate limits, or any security feature of the platform.
  • Scraping, crawling, indexing, or harvesting platform content, data, or outputs by automated means without prior written authorization.
  • Sharing account credentials, reselling access, or allowing unauthorised parties to access your account or organisation subscription.
  • Introducing malicious code, viruses, exploits, or any software designed to damage, disrupt, or gain unauthorised control of the platform or its infrastructure.
  • Using the platform to generate or distribute spam, phishing content, or unsolicited commercial communications.
  • Submitting false, misleading, or fabricated information in connection with your account or platform usage.

4. AI-Specific Use Restrictions

Legal Sparrow's AI tools are provided to augment professional judgement, not replace it. You are solely responsible for reviewing, validating, and approving all AI-generated outputs before use in any legal context.

You must not represent AI-generated content as independently verified legal opinion, use outputs to mislead courts, clients, or regulators, or rely on AI analysis without qualified human review where professional standards require it.

Systematically training, fine-tuning, or benchmarking third-party AI models using outputs derived from Legal Sparrow is not permitted without a separate written agreement.

5. Data and Confidentiality Standards

You are responsible for ensuring that any data uploaded to the platform complies with applicable confidentiality obligations, attorney-client privilege rules, and data protection laws including GDPR, CCPA, and equivalent regulations.

Do not upload genuinely sensitive personal data — such as social security numbers, financial account details, or health records — unless your organisation has implemented appropriate safeguards and has a legitimate legal basis for processing such information.

6. Professional Conduct Obligations

Users who are licensed legal professionals remain bound by the professional conduct rules of their applicable bar association or regulatory body, including duties of competence, confidentiality, and supervision of AI-assisted work product.

Legal Sparrow does not assume responsibility for compliance with jurisdiction-specific professional rules. It is your obligation to ensure your use of the platform aligns with all applicable conduct standards.

7. Enforcement and Consequences of Violation

Legal Sparrow reserves the right to investigate suspected violations of this policy and to take appropriate action, including issuing warnings, restricting access, suspending accounts, or permanently terminating subscriptions without refund.

We may cooperate with law enforcement agencies, regulators, or bar authorities in cases involving potential criminal conduct, professional misconduct, or serious harm to third parties.

Violations that result in legal liability or damage to Legal Sparrow or third parties may expose the responsible user or organisation to civil or criminal consequences.

8. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of activity on the platform that violates this policy, we encourage you to report it promptly through our official support channels available on the Contact page.

Reports are treated confidentially to the extent practicable, and we take all good-faith reports seriously as part of our commitment to maintaining a safe, professional platform.

9. Policy Updates

We may revise this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time to reflect evolving legal, technical, and operational standards. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or by email.

Continued use of Legal Sparrow following publication of an updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
